As shown in Fig. 1 ( a , b ) , we found a sequence homologous to the RcsB-binding site present in other well-characterized RcsB-regulated genes , located 272 nt upstream from the previously described dps +1 transcription site ( Mouslim & Groisman , 2003 ; Yoo et al. , 2007 ) .
Taken together , our results confirm that RcsB promotes dps expression by directly binding to the promoter region of dps .
